Every fall I know I am going to watch football with my husband every Sunday. He has been a big fan of the Buffalo Bills for a long time, and each year his hopes of a trip to the Superbowl renews. Though I am aware that someone has to win and some-one has to lose, my husband and I always have the same conversation about why the Bills aren't in the big game at the end of the season. I do love to enjoy football with him, but now and again it can be a dangerous pastime.
My spouse doesn't just watch football. For him, it's a life experience that I can't explain. If you were to be around to see my spouse enjoy football, you'd be under the impression that people can now converse through the t.v.. It's almost like a fitness routine. Not only does he bellow at the players, he also yells at the coaches. He also disagrees with the moderators for most of the game. We do not need to talk about what he says to the officials. It's not pretty. Anyhow, it is amusing, but I am trying to break it to him gently that they cannot hear him through the tv and the only thing that's going on here is that I get a little bit of a head-ache.
I have considered having friends over to watch my spouse watch football. On some days I think I might be able to charge admission. He's very serious about his football, and you can tell because of the way he behaves. What's scary about this is that he is otherwise calm, cool, and collected. It's like football games brings out the more bold side of his personality that's rarely seen. He's getting a better fitness work-out than the players! It's almost as if he bottles up all of his feelings and then lets them out when it is time to watch football.
I can't say that he is the only guy that watches football games this way though. I can't tease him too much because I've seen this behavior in countless other men. For some reason the team coaches are all idiotic, and they aren't qualified to watch football let on my own coach it and be in charge of the competitors physical fitness . It's probably more common than anyone might imagine, and perhaps that is why men get so loud in sports bars. I've come to discover that this behavior doesn't surface when men watch football. It comes about when they watch most sports.
