If a small breed puppy is aggressive and is difficult to train, or if a smallish breed pup cannot be toilet trained or poses obstacles in being potty trained, it is the owner who has unwittingly contributed to this problem. Let us examine how and why.
Aggression.
Small dogs are loved because they are sweet, they are like playthings. Owners take pleasure in having their doggy sit on their laps. This indulgence is where the complication begins. The natural aggressive trait of the canine, is to take ownership over its sector, its food, even its leader; all pups want to be the alpha dog.
It is the violent streak in the dog that causes it to climb on to the lap of its master, specially when there are lots of individuals sitting in the room.
This is a blatant act of hostility. Instead of chastising and checking the animal, every owner bar no one, would cuddle the puppy, despite the fact it jumped on to their lap uninvited, promoting the aggressive streak in the animal. Therefore the owner has given into the dog's basic instinct to be the alpha dog.
Growling and getting angry at a much bigger dog is another clear act of hostility. To the owner, and even the people who witness it, this is looked on as cute, simply because one dog is small while the other is big. Most owners cuddle the dog instead of scolding it, when it displays this aggression to a larger dog.
What is stated above are but examples as to why smaller breed pet dogs are aggressive, and definitely not because small dog training is complicated.
