Dog Stuff - Every So Often It Appears Like Dogs Need To Be Bought More Bits And Pieces Than Children Do!
My husband and I own 2 dogs. They are considered a part of the family & we attempt to include them in many of the things we like to do. This means that we have accumulated plenty of canine stuff through the years. It is amazing the amount of advertising there is that gets directed towards dog owners & pet owners on the whole. The marketers know that people love their pets & are willing to spend a whole lot of money on them. It seems that each holiday season there's more & more dog stuff in the stores.
This past holiday season I could not believe my eyes when I was in the accessory a segment of a national department-store. At first I thought there was a brand-new section of doll garments that was placed in this section. Upon looking closer I realized that the garments were for dogs. Together with the clothes there were beds, toys, an anti bark collar, designer dishes & other canine stuff. This is a shop that does not ordinarily have a housepet section. I asked one of the sales clerks when this section of the anti bark collar & other dog stuff had been added. She declared that it was part of their holiday celebration nation wide. It seems that individuals were requesting more items that they could get, not only for their canine, but for the pets of their friends. I jokingly asked if this did not snub cat owners, but I was told that the pet cat merchandize was on the opposite side of the display I was focusing on.
The dog stuff included very elaborate out-fits for the holidays, together with the anti bark collar. Velvet dresses, satin off the shoulder cocktail gowns, and the more traditional knit sweaters. There were also collars that were studded with sequins & stones. I could tell that the sales clerk wasn't thrilled with this brand-new merchandize. I commented that our female dog would certainly prefer precious stones. When I mentioned this she lead me over to the fine jewelry counter & showed me a display of precious and semi precious collars. I could not believe what I was seeing. I knew that there were specialty stores & catalogs that managed this kind of dog stuff, but I not ever thought that it would be featured in a national department-store. The clerk mentioned that they had a huge display of Halloween costumes in the fall together with special treats for the 4 legged trick or treater's.
I came home & told my husband about the display of dog stuff. He commented that we might be recipients of some of the things, because our family members and friends know that we indulge our dogs. I told him that if we did get something I hoped it would be the fourteen carat gold collar with the pearl pendant.
